KROMRIVIER WINES

Nestled in the heart of the Cederberg, South Africa, Kromrivier Vineyards & Wines is a testament to the resilience and passion for winemaking. In 2012, this historic farm, known for its rugged beauty and unique terroir, planted its first grape vines since the late 1980s. Just three years later, in 2015, we proudly harvested our first Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Shiraz, crafting them into our maiden Rosé.

Today, Kromrivier Vineyards boasts a modest but diverse 3 hectares of vineyards, cultivating Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Tempranillo, Grenache Noir, and Chardonnay. These varieties allow us to create interesting and unique blends, reflecting the distinctive character of our terroir. While our wines are currently made in Franschhoek, the essence of Kromrivier’s high-altitude vineyards, ranging to 850 meters above sea level, is captured in every bottle. Our winemaker is Martin Smith from Atlas Swift.

The Cederberg’s centuries-old landscape, shaped by wind, rain, hail, snow, and ice, provides a dramatic backdrop to our vineyards. The magnificent rock formations, carved from soft sandstone, tell a story of time and nature’s artistry.

Join us on our journey of discovery as we explore the potential of this exceptional terroir and experiment with a variety of grapes. Kromrivier Vineyards & Wines invites you to experience the unique flavours and stories from the heart of the Cederberg.
